Raymond Theard (Ray-T) was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. And as culture would dictate, he began his musical explorations at the ripe age of 11 when he asked his mom to buy him a trumpet. Within 2 years he was the 1st chair and trumpet section leader both in junior middle and high school.

While in high school he began teaching himself to play the piano in his music class. This would lead to him writing his first song. He knew then that he always wanted to be a song writer.

He joined the US Army right after high school and performed in talent shows and at one time even played the trumpet in the Army band.

In 1991, while deployed to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait the during the Gulf War, he stumbled across his music partner and they formed the singing quartet “4u”. The group recorded a single (Seasons Change) in 1992. And then they split up due to military obligations.

In 1995, Ray and Corey united again and together formed the R&B Band (Diversity) in Hawaii. Diversity performed in clubs, outdoor events, restaurants, and other venues around the island of Oahu. They were mainly a cover band. But their repertoire included singles written by Ray-T like “Serious”. The band won the US Army Battle of the Bands where musicians from all over the world competed. Again, military obligations would influence the band’s ability to book gigs and perform. As the members all went their separate ways, Ray and Corey kept in touch throughout the years and always hoped to pursue their dreams together again.

In 2020, the pandemic hit. Ray began to realize there was no better time than now to get back at it. On January 1, 2021, Ray released his first single (Tomorrow). As he continued to focus on writing and releasing at least 1 song ever other month.

Ray-T continues to build the 4U Brand producing great music, videos, and 4u Brand Merchandise.

Raymond Theard is an aspiring composer, producer, and music artist. As a U.S. Army veteran, husband and father, he overcame countless obstacles on the way up, and continues to work hard each and every day to keep his musical journey moving forward.
